Installation tips.

Before you begin, be sure to disconnect power to the room at the circuit breaker and assemble the necessary tools and equipment.

You don't need a lot of tools - just a screwdriver, a pair of wire strippers and some wire nuts.

It's also a good idea to wear a mask and goggles to protect your face from drywall debris and insulation.

During this step you should also find out if there is any electrical work to do - need to move the junction box or add a new one?

If you do, I recommend finding your fixtures first so you can get to the right spot.

This is especially true for things like island pendants and wall sconces.

It doesn't do much for most "normal" ceiling lights.

You might just put them in the center of the space.

Before you start removing old equipment, turn off power to the switchboard by flipping the circuit breaker or removing the fuse.

Use a voltage tester to verify that you have the correct circuit breaker or fuse to make sure no current is flowing through the wires.
